UPDATE: City of Cleveland to keep several 24-hour warming centers open due to extreme cold

The city is also urging residents to take extra precautions.

The city of Cleveland has announced it will continue keep four recreation centers open as 24-hour warming centers as temperatures remain frigid throughout Saturday, January 6.

The locations are:

  • Zelma Watson George Recreation Center - 3155 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive
  • Collinwood Recreation Center - 16300 Lakeshore Blvd.
  • Michael Zone Recreation Center- 6301 Lorain Ave.
  • Lonnie Burton Recreation Center - 2511 E 46th St.

In addition, the city is also urging residents to take extra precautions during the cold weather, including to drive safely, check emergency supply kits, dress appropriately, and bring pets indoors.

The city will decide whether or not to keep the centers open even longer on Tuesday.
