A 19-year-old man from Bedford is being held without bond after police say he killed the person he was planning to rob a Mayfield Heights home with.

Authorities say Dewayne Gatson and 17-year-old Phillip Moore, of Euclid, worked together and had made plans to break into home on the 1300 block of Rancland Drive. Just before 7:14 p.m. on Dec. 22, the owner of the home called 911 saying his house had been robbed and a dead body was inside. The body was later identified as Moore.

An arrest warrant was issued for Gatson on Dec. 29, and he was taken into custody without incident a day later at his Turney Road home. He is currently at the Mayfield Heights Police Department.

Bedford police and the FBI assisted Mayfield Heights in the investigation.
