Property values are up throughout the United States, and Cuyahoga County is no exception.

According to the county's reappraisal valuation (conducted every six years), values among the roughly 526,000 home have increased by an average of 10.8 percent since July of 2017, with all but two municipalities experiencing an uptick.

“We have felt that the county is on a great upswing, and the county-wide reappraisal confirms our progress,” Cuyahoga County Executive Armond Budish said in a statement. “I am pleased that overall our property values have significantly increased. It’s a sign that our county is prospering.”

The study showed values on the west side of Cleveland went up 11.2 percent, while the east side increased by 3 percent. Lakewood (22.5 percent), Rocky River (20.3), and Bay Village (18.3) all had the largest increases, while East Cleveland (-25.3) and Newburgh Heights (-0.3) were the only two areas in negative figures.

“We have seen growth in the vast majority of our communities,” Budish stated. “But some areas of the county are stronger than others. We will redouble our efforts to help those communities that have not kept pace.”

With a median figure of $125,100 (according to Zillow) Cuyahoga County home values have now reached levels not seen since before the Great Recession, when that number bottomed out at less than $95,000. However, this also means property taxes could be on the rise.

For those disagreeing with their proposed property values, a dispute can be formally filed on the fiscal officer's website, by mail, or an any of the three conference site locations.
