JACK Thistledown Racino announces 2020 racing schedule; begins June 4

The JACK Thistledown Racino has announced its schedule for the 2020 racing season

With horse racing once again permitted in the state, the JACK Thistledown Racino has announced that its 2020 racing season will begin on Thursday, June 4.

The racino's schedule will include an eight race card Monday, Tuesday, Wednesdays, and Thursdays with first post at 12:50 p.m. ET and select Saturday races including the 86th running of the Ohio Derby on Saturday, June 27 and the Best of Ohio series running on Saturday, August 8.

A grade 3 race, the Ohio Derby features a purse of $500,000, making it the richest and only graded race in the state. As a part of the “Road to Kentucky Derby presented by Woodford Reserve, points to the top four finishers in the 2020 Ohio Derby will be worth 20-8-4-2 on the Road to the Kentucky Derby, which has been rescheduled to run at Churchill Downs on Saturday, September 5.

“We are thrilled to have JACK Thistledown Racino’s historic Ohio Derby become a part of the Road To The Kentucky Derby. As the only graded race in the state of Ohio, we have always been proud of the talent it draws and are excited to know this year’s performance will lead competitors to a chance of running in the world renown Kentucky Derby,” said Angela Matthews, general manager of JACK Thistledown Racino. “We look forward to cheering on the Ohio Derby and all our races during an exciting summer of horse racing at JACK Thistledown Racino.”
