Lakewood woman accused of stabbing both of her parents in North Ridgeville appears in court

The suspect has been identified as 34-year-old Emily Deese, and she is currently in police custody.

NORTH RIDGEVILLE, Ohio — A Lakewood woman is in custody after allegedly stabbing both of her parents multiple times Tuesday afternoon in North Ridgeville.

Police responded to the 6600 block of Amber Way just after 4:30 p.m., with officers saying the suspect had stabbed both her 69-year-old father and 67-year-old mother multiple times at their home. According to authorities, the woman had chased her father out of the house while wielding a knife before she was arrested along Wildlife Trail.

The suspect has been identified as 34-year-old Emily Deese, who is currently in custody. 

Deese appeared in Lorain County Court on Wednesday where she was formally charged on the following: 

  • 2 counts of attempted murder 
  • 4 counts of felonious assault 

A preliminary hearing for Deese will be held on Dec. 12.

Both of the victims were taken to St. John Medical Center in Westlake. Her parents were also transported to the same hospital with serious injuries, and their exact conditions are unknown at this time.

During the court hearing, the prosecutor stated that the 69-year-old father had sustained four wounds and the 67-year-old mother had sustained at least nine stab wounds. 

While the incident remains under investigation, Deese currently faces charges of attempted murder and felonious assault.

Deese is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday morning for an arraignment hearing.
