Missing Iowa teen found safe in Parma

Two people—a 21-year-old male and his 49-year-old mother—have been charged with tampering with evidence in the incident.

A 16-year-old girl who had been missing from Iowa for nearly two weeks has been safely located in Parma.

According to the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor's Office, Jody Ann Palmer of Colesburg, Iowa had not been seen since Jan. 4. She apparently left a note for her grandparents that she was "going to live in California," but authorities in Iowa ended up contacting Parma police after they received information leading them to believe Jody was in the city.

Two people who were with Jody—21-year-old Steven Davis and his 49-year-old mother Laurie Metot—have been charged with interference with custody in the incident. They are currently being held in the Cuyahoga County Jail on $50,000 bond.

“Thanks to the hard work of the ICAC Task Force, United States Secret Service Cleveland Field Office, and Parma Police Department—the girl was safely returned to her family,” Prosecutor Michael C. O’Malley said in a statement.
