EAST CLEVELAND, Ohio — Multiple people were injured after a car struck an RTA bus as its driver was apparently trying to flee police Wednesday afternoon.
According to the East Cleveland Police Department, a patrol officer turned around on Woodworth Avenue when he noticed a car speeding eastbound. The driver allegedly drove even faster upon seeing the officer and lost control before hitting the bus at the East 152nd Street intersection.
Authorities say the driver tried to run away but was taken into custody about 30 seconds later. Several ambulances were called to the scene and roughly eight or nine people were taken to local hospitals. Their exact conditions are unknown at this time.
