Ohio Governor Mike DeWine will be in Northeast Ohio on Wednesday to receive the National Leadership Award from the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum.

MAYFIELD HEIGHTS, Ohio — Ohio Governor Mike DeWine will be in Northeast Ohio on Wednesday to receive an award from the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.

According to a release, Governor DeWine will be receiving the National Leadership Award at the museum's annual luncheon. DeWine will also deliver remarks at the event, which will take place at Landerhaven, located at 6111 Landerhaven Drive in Mayfield Heights.

A release noted that throughout his career, DeWine "has been a passionate advocate for Holocaust remembrance." During his time as a member of the U.S. Senate, DeWine introduced the Nazi War Crimes Disclosure Act, which made previously classified information about the Nazi persecution public. The act was signed into law in 2000.

"The Museum is honoring Ohio Governor Mike DeWine in recognition of his ongoing fight against antisemitism and his contributions to the community in ways that advance Holocaust education," the event's website reads. "Governor DeWine sponsored the Nazi War Crimes Disclosure Act as a member of the United States Senate, hosts the annual Governor’s Holocaust Commemoration in Ohio, and signed an executive order focused on defining and combating antisemitism."

Also scheduled to speak at Wednesday's luncheon, which will begin at 11:30 a.m., are The Atlantic staff writer and creator of the "Antisemitism Explained" video series Yair Rosenberg and Mandel Center for Advanced Holocaust Studies at the Museum director Dr. Lisa Leff. DeWine's remarks are expected to take place at 12:15 p.m.

More information regarding Wednesday's luncheon can be found on the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum's website.
