Parma Police charge man for Thursday armed home invasion

He allegedly pointed the gun at a female victim and robbed her of her cell phone.

PARMA -- Parma Police arrested a Cleveland man in connection with the Dec. 17 armed home invasion that occurred on Spring Garden Drive here.

Eugene D. Gill, 24, of Cleveland is is currently being held at the Parma Police Detention Center and has been charged with one count of aggravated robbery, held on a $150,000 cash bond.

Further criminal charges are anticipated after police talk to prosecutors.

About 3:30 p.m. Dec. 17, police responded to a home in the 7900 block of Spring Garden Road for a report of a man inside the home pointing a gun at the residents.

Police responded to the area and saw a man, later identified as Gill, walking away from the home.

When Gill saw the police, he began running, leading officers on a short foot pursuit and ran into the backyards of several houses on the street.

Gill was later captured in the area of W. 79th Street and Bertha Avenue as he was running from officers.

Police later learned Gill entered the victim's home and began threatening to kill several people with a gun.

Gill allegedly pointed the gun at a female victim and robbed her of her cell phone before fleeing from the house.

On Dec. 18, police recovered the handgun that Gill allegedly used during the home invasion in the backyard of a nearby residence.
