South Euclid Police: Steering wheel locks now available for certain Hyundai, Kia owners

Residents of the city who own a qualifying vehicle are now able to call 216-691-4252 to reserve a steering lock and schedule a time for pickup.

SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio — The South Euclid Police Department has announced that anti-theft steering wheel locks are now available to qualifying South Euclid Hyundai and Kia vehicle owners.

Residents of the city who own a qualifying vehicle are now able to call 216-691-4252 to reserve a steering lock and schedule a time for pickup. You must show proof of ownership of a qualifying vehicle (listed below) to be eligible for the lock according to the South Euclid PD.

Hyundai Models

  • 2017-2020 Elantra
  • 2015-2019 Sonata
  • 2020-2021 Venue 

Kia Models

  • 2011-2021 Kia Sorento
  • 2011-2021 Kia Soul

Major upgrades in anti-theft software for certain Hyundai vehicle models are now available, with more models being added in the near future. 

According to Hyundai's website the following vehicles have upgrades available:

  • 2017-2020 Elantra
  • 2015-2019 Sonata
  • 2020-2021 Venue

The following models will have software upgrades coming in June of this year: 

  • 2018-2022 Accent
  • 2011-2016 Elantra
  • 2021-2022 Elantra
  • 2018-2020 Elantra GT
  • 2013-2014 Genesis Coupe
  • 2018-2022 Kona
  • 2020-2021 Palisade
  • 2013-2018 Santa Fe Sport
  • 2013-2022 Santa Fe
  • 2019 Santa Fe XL
  • 2011-2014 Sonata
  • 2011-2022 Tucson
