CLEVELAND — A Strongsville boy's fundraising efforts have resulted in a special gift for a special dog.

Ten-year-old Brady Snakovsky started Brady's K9 Fund last year with a mission to donate as many protective vests to police K-9s as possible. Since then, Brady's K9 Fund has raised enough for more than 130 K-9 vests, with 60 more on a waiting list.

Now, Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority Transit Police K-9 Kubo will also receive a vest, thanks to Brady's K9 Fund.

Kubo is a bomb and patrol K-9. His custom-fit vest, donated by MMI Textiles of Westlake and made by Line Defense in Canada, is bulletproof and moisture-wicking to keep Kubo safe and dry all day.

It all started last year, when Brady and his mom were watching an episode of Live PD. He noticed a police K-9 on the show did not have a bulletproof vest and wanted his mom to help him buy one for a local K-9. The vests are expensive, with a cost of more than $1,000.

Brady’s mom helped him create a GoFundMe campaign, which had raised more than $60,000 about a year ago. As of Monday, it's raised nearly $90,000.

Kubo will receive his new vest Tuesday.
