With outdoor gear in high demand, a new store in Rocky River is offering affordable options for buying equipment.

On Tuesday, The Cleveland Outpost opened at 1328 Linda St. in Rocky River. Operated by Josh Scott and Hannah Kelling, the store aims to "create a more accessible outdoor climate" by selling -- and eventually renting -- affordable used and donated outdoor gear, such as kayaks, canoes, paddleboards, paddling equipment and accessories, tents and sleeping bags.

A full list of items can be found at the store's website and the store's temporary hours are as follows:

  • Monday: Closed
  • Tuesday-Friday: 9:00-12:30pm
  • Saturday-Sunday: 10:00-6:00pm

"During this time, we encourage you to stop in, meet us, and bring your gently used outdoor gear along. A portion of the proceeds from donations go to The Buckeye Trail Association. We are also offering an exchange service, where we value your favorite pieces and offer you store credit in return!" the store wrote in a Facebook post earlier this week. "Not all services will be available during this period. We won’t be able to offer rentals just yet, but look out for our online store - where you’ll be able to peek at our inventory before stopping in!"

Those seeking more information on The Cleveland Outpost can do by visiting its website or contacting (440) 465-4654.
