CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Fire Department is investigating after a 59-year-old woman was killed in a house fire early Sunday morning. 

Cleveland Fire says it happened in the 4600 block of Oakley Avenue. Crews arrived just after 5 a.m. to heavy smoke and flames shooting from the second floor home.

Firefighters were able to rescue four adults and four children, safely. Upon searching the second floor, they found a 59-year-woman unresponsive. She was pronounced dead on scene.

Volunteers from the Red Cross are on scene to assist the displaced family members. The home, officials say, has significant damage from the fire. 

Investigators have not yet released the cause of the fire, or if the home has working smoke detectors. 

The name of the woman who died in the fire has not yet been released.
