BURTON, Ohio — Two people are dead following a multi-car crash in Geauga County Monday afternoon.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, two vehicles were headed in opposite directions on State Route 168 in Burton Township. Around 2:31 p.m., a Pontiac G5 headed south apparently went left of center and slammed into a Subaru Forester headed north near State Route 700.

The driver of the Pontiac, 59-year-old John Saffer of Newbury, was killed instantly. The Subaru driver was identified as 63-year-old Burton resident Gustave G. Dasch Jr., and he died from his injuries at University Hospitals Geauga Medical Center.
