CLARIDON TOWNSHIP, Ohio -- Three people were taken to the hospital overnight after an ambulance crash at Mayfield and Taylor Wells roads in Geauga County.
The accident happened early Monday morning while the ambulance was making a non-emergency transport of a patient.
Authorities say the ambulance driver swerved to avoid hitting a deer. The vehicle went off the right side of the road, hit a street sign and two utility poles.
Those hurt include the 22-year-old driver, the 42-year-old EMT in the back of the ambulance and the 59-year-old patient. None of them suffered life-threatening injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
