Chardon residents at the south end of town are advised to plan for at least 24 hours of boiling all taps that are used for drinking and cooking.

CHARDON, Ohio — Two east side communities have been dealing with water main break issues on Monday.

In Chardon, a boil alert has been issued for the residents located at the south end of town. According to a Facebook post by the city, once the testing of the water has come back safe and clear of any bacteria, the boil alert will be lifted.

Residents are advised to plan for at least 24 hours of boiling all taps that are used for drinking and cooking. All taps must be flushed for 4 minutes; brought to a boil and boiled for 1 minute and cooled before using.

Here's a look at the affected areas:

In Lake County, crews are finishing up repairs on a water main break in Painesville. It happened near Richmond and Chester and 3News was told most of the break was under control within an hour.

That intersection is also open this evening and only buildings directly around the break were affected.
