Several departments responded to Steris on Heisley Road in Mentor for a report of a fire Wednesday afternoon.
Steve Norton, a senior director to Steris, says the fire occurred in a lab. All staff are safe and were temporarily relocated to another facility. The chemicals involved were determined not to be a public health hazard.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, but officials say the damage appears to be minor. While second shift employees will not report this evening, workers are expected to report to the facility as scheduled Thursday morning.
