Lake County YMCA Dream House is Big Success

WKYC’s own Hollie Strano played host as one by one the ten finalists for the car selected their keys.

The 26th annual Lake County YMCA Dream House giveaway brought 30 semi-finalists, their family and friends to the front lawn of the newly completed home in Willoughby Hills, hoping they would come away a winner of either the house or a 2019 Chevy Camaro.

WKYC’s own Hollie Strano played host as one by one the ten finalists for the car selected their keys. And it came down to the very last one. Winner, Tim Wallenhorst from Parma Heights, always wanted a Camaro, but never thought he would own one.

“It’s unbelievable. I was lucky because I know I was going to be number 10, so I said there was no pressure on me. So I really thought someone in the middle of the pack was going to pick the winner,” said Wallenhost as he was in the driver seat.

Then it was time to give away the house. Twenty people were hoping they would win, but on the second key the door opened. It came as a shock to Robin Katzenstien and her husband from Chardon Ohio.

“Because I couldn’t get the key in the first time, so I figured I didn’t win. No big deal. And it went in and I was like wow,” said Katzenstien shortly after winning.

She bought her ticket just this past Saturday, while helping their daughter move to Columbus.

“My husband said go pick up a ticket on your way around and I rolled my eyes. But I went and got one anyway,” remarked Katzenstein.

They were so busy that day, the couple never toured the house, until right before the giveaway. This was a record setting year for ticket sales. The YMCA takes the money raised and puts in right back into the community.
