Mentor Police arrest woman wanted in armed bank robbery

She lead police on a brief chase before her arrest.

A 28-year-old woman is in custody after robbing a bank at gunpoint, Tuesday. 

Shannita Martin of Cleveland entered the Key Bank located at 8405 Munson Road just before 1 p.m. and used a handgun to get away with and undisclosed amount of cash. 

Martin's vehicle was spotted after the robbery by Mentor Police heading westbound on SR 2. She lead police on a brief chase before it was called off for safety reasons. Wickliffe Police later located her car and used stop sticks to try an stop her. 

She continued on I-90 eastbound where she eventually stopped and was arrested without incident. The money and the handgun were recovered from her car. 

The investigation is ongoing, however, no injuries were reported during robbery or pursuit. 

Martin is being charged with aggravated robbery, a felony of the first degree.
