Mentor Police seek information in shooting at Great Lakes Mall

MENTOR, Ohio — The Mentor Police Department is seeking information on a shooting that took place at the Great Lake Mall. 

Officials responded to the parking lot of the Food Court on Monday just after 5 p.m. for reports of a gunshot. At the scene police learned, three men, all approximately 20 years old,  had been involved in a physical altercation. 

The first suspect, a while man was arguing in the parking lot with a black man. The two began fighting, and the first suspect pull out a handgun and fired it at the victim. 

Police do not believe the suspect was struck by the gunfire. 

The second suspect, a black man, exited a  car and began assaulting the victims with the help of the first suspect until a bystander intervened. 

The two suspects left the parking lot in a newer model white Mercedes-Benz SUV headed towards State Route 84. According to witnesses, the car had a yellow out of state license plate. 

The victim ran through the parking lot near sears but was unable to be located by police.
