EASTLAKE -- The driver who struck and killed a 17-year-old girl on Vine Street Tuesday afternoon is now facing charges for the crash.
Eastlake police say Eric Dean Jones, 26, of Akron, is charged with aggravated vehicular homicide, driving under the influence and failure to control.
Jones was behind the wheel Tuesday when he drove off the right side of the road and struck 17-year-old Maddisan Chase on Vine Street near E. 337th Street. Jones' vehicle continued until it crashed into a utility pole.
Chase was taken to Lake Health West Medical Center, where she succumbed to her injuries. Jones was uninjured.
Jones pleaded not guilty in Willoughby Municipal Court Wednesday morning. His bond was set at $500,000.
