MADISON TOWNSHIP -- Officials confirm that human remains were found in Madison Township Monday afternoon and Tuesday morning.
Madison Township Police Chief Matt Byers said a resident's dog found a skull and brought it into a yard on Bennett Road Monday afternoon.
Cadaver dogs searched the property and neighboring properties through the evening. When they returned Tuesday morning, more human remains were found in a wooded area.
Byers said there are currently no indications of foul play and no missing person reports within Madison Township. The department is checking with neighboring agencies for potential missing persons.
"There's no indication of any crime right now. There's no cause for any alarm for any residents today," Byers said.
Byers also noted the remains don't appear to have been a recent death.
The Lake County Coroner was called to the scene and the remains were taken to the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner to be identified.
