MENTOR, Ohio — Lake County residents who have been waiting years for Trader Joe's to finally open in Mentor will unfortuately have to hang on for a few extra days.
On Tuesday, officials with Trader Joe's announced that the opening date for its new location has been moved back from Friday, February 4 to Monday, February 7 due to the severe winter weather coming to Northeast Ohio.
According to a press release, the grocery store on 9474 Mentor Avenue will officially open to the public at 8 a.m. and will include a brief ceremonial ribbon cutting.
Store Captain Mike Mcginnis and Trader Joe's crew members will be present to welcome guests and help acquaint them to their new store.
The new store is more than 9,000 square feet and will be adorned with artwork that highlights major local landmarks including Lake Erie, Headlands Beach State Park, and the Mentor Lagoons.
The store now joins the Woodmere location and the Trader Joe's in Crocker Park to become the third in the area and the seventh overall in the state. The grocery store also says that it will donate 100% of unsold products to a range of non-profit and community-based organizations, a common practice in stores around the country.
Additionally, officials say that hiring efforts are still underway and anyone interested in applying to work at the Mentor Trader Joe's can do so here.
