Wickliffe Fire Department rescues person from apartment fire; victim in critical condition

WICKLIFFE, Ohio — The Wickliffe Fire Department rescued a person from a fire that took place at an 8-unit residential apartment located at 29514 Euclid Ave. on Friday morning. 

The rescued person was trapped in the basement unit of the apartment and has been transported to a hospital and it is in critical condition.

The Wickliffe Fire Department was alerted to the fire at 6:13 a.m. and arrived on scene four minutes later. The fire was under control at 6:34 a.m. with Fire Departments from Willoughby, Willowick, Willoughby Hills, Euclid, Mentor, Kirtland, and Eastlake also responding on the scene.

Four injuries were reported from the incident and an estimated $40,000 worth of damage was done to the $300,000 property.
