WICKLIFFE, Ohio — A traffic stop near midnight in Wickliffe led to one man being arrested after the discovery of a loaded gun and drugs in a rear seat next to a one-year-old baby.

Police stopped the vehicle on Euclid Avenue near East 286th Street for multiple violations. Officers say the 25 year-old female driver was found to have a suspended driver's license and the car smelled of marijuana. Upon searching the car, police found a loaded handgun in a backpack that had been reported stolen to Cleveland Police in the past.

Additional ammunition, marijuana, cocaine, and a digital scale with drug residue were located during the search.

Police let the driver leave with the child after issuing multiple citations. Her 29 year-old male passenger was arrested and charged with improper transportation of a firearm in a vehicle, being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, receiving stolen property, possession of cocaine, and possession of marijuana.

He is being held at the Wickliffe Jail pending arraignment. In the meantime, Wickliffe Police say the seized handgun will be sent out for ballistic testing to see if it is connected to any shootings.
