11-year-old boy receives 3D printed arm made by an Elyria HS student

If his friends could do it, 11-year-old Jordan Harris always knew he could do it too. He would just have to do it with one hand.

Elyria — Basketball, soccer, football, baseball.

If his friends could do it, 11-year-old Jordan Harris always knew he could do it too. He would just have to do it with one hand.

“From the day he was born he learned how to crawl. He learned how to tie his own shoes at 5 just like anybody else," Jordan’s proud mom Melinda Morris said.

So when Jordan said he wanted to play the cello,he did it.

It was made possible by a 3D printed prosthetic left forearm and hand. Elyria High School junior Molly Fenik made it with the 3D printer in the school's “Imagineering hub."

"His mindset always from the first day I met him was I'm going to play the cello and he didn't think twice about it," said Fenik

Jordan explains it this way, "I was really excited and surprised, all these people wanted to help me accomplish what I wanted to do."

It took only six days for Jordan to learn three songs.

“How is that even possible? I could hardly get the recorder and he’s nailing this. But he’s always amazed me," said Melinda.

Same goes of Fenik when she says, "He's totally into embracing what he has and living life how he wants."

Jordan sees it in what would serve as good advice for all of us.

“Always try your best. Always try. Never give up. Always at least try to accomplish your goals," says Jordan from experience.

"Just the fact that he's been able to do so much without a prosthetic now seeing him with one! Now I'm like what else can we do? So I'm excited to see what else can we do? Excited to see where this takes him," says Jordan’s proud mom, who’s known from day one, if anyone could, Jordan could.
