18-year-old arrested, charged after making threats against Elyria City Schools

Davis was charged with inducing panic, making terroristic threats and making false alarms against Elyria City Schools and taken to Lorain County Jail.

An 18-year-old, Javiaan Davis, was arrested Thursday after making threats against Elyria City Schools.

On September 16, a threatening phone call was made to a switchboard operator at the Elyria City Schools Administration Building, located at 42101 Griswold Road.

Following the phone call, an investigation was launched. Officials discovered that three additional phone calls had been received. All the calls indicated that the subject intended to cause harm to Elyria high school.

As a result of the threatening phone calls, the school was placed on exterior lockdown until officials deemed that the faculty and students were safe and the threat was no longer imminent. The lockdown lasted more than an hour.

Police investigations revealed Davis as the suspect behind the phone calls and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

He was arrested at a duplex near his home on E. 34th Street in Lorain. He was found hiding inside the cabinet beneath a sink.

He was then taken to the Elyria Police Department where he confessed to the crime saying he was upset with his girlfriend that attended the high school.

Davis was charged with inducing panic, making terroristic threats and making false alarms against Elyria City Schools and taken to Lorain County Jail.

He is being held without bond until his first court appearance, scheduled for Friday.
