A Bay Village woman is said to be in critical condition after being struck in a hit-skip incident Wednesday afternoon in Avon Lake.

According to police and witnesses, the 51-year-old woman was riding her bike eastbound on Lake Road when a car going the other direction went left of center and turned left onto Moore Road, striking the woman and the bike before fleeing the scene. The incident occurred around 4 p.m.

The victim was airlifted to a local hospital and although her condition is critical, her exact injuries are unknown at this time.

Authorities continue searching for the suspect vehicle. It has been described as being dark in color with tinted windows, possibly a Ford Focus. In addition, it struck the bicycle on the driver's side, so their may be damage in that area.

Anyone with information is asked to immediately call the Avon Lake Police Department at (440) 930-4116.
