ELYRIA, Ohio — Authorities suspect alcohol played a role in a snowmobile crash that left an Elyria man dead overnight Saturday.
The crashed happened around midnight on Murray Ridge Road.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, 35-year-old Jared Fenik was driving a 2015 BRP snowmobile when he traveled off the left side of the road and struck a trash receptacle.
Fenik was thrown from the snowmobile into a utility pole.
Responding crews performed CPR on Fenik and took him to University Hospitals, where he later died.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol says Fenik was wearing a helmet and alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
