Lemonade stand, bake sale raise $7,500 for wounded Amherst police officer

All $7,500 raised will go to Officer Eugene Ptacek, who remains in serious condition.

A little kindness can certainly go a long way, as several local residents proved this past week.

A lemonade stand and bake sale outside the Sheffield Village Police Department raised $7,500 for Amherst Officer Eugene Ptacek this weekend. Ptacek was injured after being shot during a SWAT standoff in Sheffield Lake back on May 31.

Ptacek remains in serious condition at MetroHealth Medical Center. The man accused of shooting him, Martin Robinson, was arrested.

The lemonade stand and bake sale was started by a 7-year-old girl, with the help of her brother and a friend. Members of the community also signed a get well card for Ptacek.
