ELYRIA, Ohio — The Lorain County Sheriff's Office announced on Friday that the suspect wanted for robbing an Elyria Township bank earlier this week has been captured.

Officials say the suspect, identified as Christopher Stanley, of Lorain, surrendered peacefully at a home in Columbia Township on Friday and was taken into custody. Stanley is charged with aggravated robbery and his being held in the Lorain County Jail with a court date set for Monday.

Sheriff's deputies say Stanley robbed the Northwest Bank on North Ridge Road on Monday, leaving the bank with an undisclosed amount of money and fleeing westbound on N. Ridge Road.

The capture of Stanley was a combined effort of the Lorian County Sheriff's Office, Lorain County Drug Task Force, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force.
