Lorain County Sheriff’s Office: Gun found in car after Elyria officers shoot suspect at gas station

One suspect was killed.

ELYRIA, Ohio — The Lorain County Sheriff's Office says that a gun was found in a suspect car after Elyria police shot and killed a suspect at a gas station last week.

It happened last Tuesday at the Marathon at 1425 East Ave. in Carlisle Township, when Elyria officers initiated a traffic stop on a car following a report of shots fired at a nearby apartment building.

Police continued to order the suspects to get out of the vehicle, then noticed that the car was shaking as movement was taking place inside. After a few moments, the right rear door of the car opened and one of the suspects pointed a gun at officers, who opened fire on the suspects.

Both suspects, 39, were taken to local hospitals. Isaiah Robinson (right in the below photo) later died from his injuries, while Damon Battles (left) suffered unknown injuries.
