911 AUDIO | 2 killed in Lorain County boat crash identified

The crash left two people dead.

LORAIN -- The Lorain County Coroner has identified the two people killed in a boat crash on Lake Erie Wednesday night.

The U.S. Coast Guard says it received a call for a power boat that hit a steel break wall "very, very hard" around 10:50 p.m., after the Lorain fireworks. You can hear the 911 call below.

The 20-foot-long boat carried three passengers: 54-year-old Timothy Moore, 49-year-old Penny Nickeson and Moore's 10-year-old grandson.

A Coast Guard spokesperson said both adults had suffered severe injuries when crews arrived at the scene. The child was uninjured. All three were taken to a nearby Coast Guard station in Lorain.

Moore was pronounced dead at the scene and Nickeson was taken to Mercy Regional Hospital, where she later died.

The 10-year-old boy was released to his grandmother at the scene.
