NBA star George Hill provides 'Gift of Love' to Northeast Ohio

Former Cleveland Cavalier George Hill is sharing ‘A Gift of Love’ to Northeast Ohio in the form of a free concert.

Former Cleveland Cavalier George Hill is sharing ‘A Gift of Love’ to Northeast Ohio in the form of a free concert featuring big names in contemporary gospel.

He’s bringing artists like Deitrick Haddon, Kierra “Kiki” Sheard, Jermaine Dolly and the Shelby 5.

While the concert is free, any money raised that night will go back to Church on the North Coast’s ‘Joshua Kids,’ a faith-based organization that helps kids find their purpose and gives them the tools to navigate through life.

“We’re not blind and oblivious to what goes on  in this community,” explains Joshua Kids Co-Director, Jeremiah Burris.

“There’s drugs, there’s violence, and it’s very hard for the children to make it through that without being affected, without being caught in that cycle of poverty, without being caught in that cycle of incarceration.”

The program is open to any child who lives in Lorain, not just those who attend the church.

“It could be a kid with a great family who still can go to Joshua Kids, find more about God, learn about their purpose, [and] still be a light in their home,” he says.

Over the past 26 years, the organization has assisted thousands of children and their families through skating parties, movie nights, Christmas presents and so much more.

“If you put yourself in the shoes of some of these kids and the things that they see here, it’s very difficult,” Burris explains.  “A lot of kids in our program don’t have coats, a lot of kids in our program don’t have beds.”

The concert is Saturday December 15th at Church on the North Coast on Leavitt Road in Lorain.  Doors open at 6pm.  For more information on free tickets call 440.960.1100 or visit WNZN Power 89.1 Radio at 1505 Kansas Avenue in Lorain.
