Easy tips on how to make your own holiday planters

Noelle Akin from Petitti Garden Center shows us the tricks of the trade.

CLEVELAND — On Friday's Lunch Break with Jay Crawford, Noelle Akin from Petitti Garden Center shows Jay and Betsy Kling how to make their own holiday planters.

The framework is the most crucial element, according to Noelle.

Start with one pot filled with moist soil, which you can then add simple greens to, in order to shape the "bones" of the design.

From there, you can add  fresh, live greens and branch components a la carte that can add color, and texture, in varying heights, which she calls the "thriller, filler and spiller" concept.

It's important to keep pots propped up and off the ground to avoid freezing and damaging the pot, Noelle pointed out.
