Here's what's happening in Northeast Ohio this weekend: Nov. 27-30

With Thanksgiving behind us, it's all about the holiday lights this weekend.

CLEVELAND — All across Northeast Ohio, this is the time of year where people and places light up with joy, and light up literally.

If you’re not caught up in the Black Friday shopping madness, or maybe if you’ve finished up already for the day, we’ve got other options for you to be cheery and festive and it’s all about the holiday lights.

Read on for the best places to get your glow on from now through the start of January.

Cleveland Winterfest

What: This free tree lighting ceremony and holiday festival is fun for the whole family and finishes off with fireworks. There will be crafts, games, carriage rides, live music and more!

Where: Public Square in downtown Cleveland

When: Saturday from 1-7:30 P.M.

Cleveland Metroparks Zoo’s Wild Winter Lights

What: The zoo is decked out with one million lights and twelve different interactive areas, like its Snow Safari and Santa’s North Pole Lodge. You can buy tickets in advance online every day until 2 P.M. For $50, four people can get inside or you can buy entry individually for $18.50 per person. If tickets are still available at the gate, the price goes up a bit to $60 for a pack of four and $20.50 for a single ticket.

Where: Cleveland Metroparks Zoo at 3900 Wildlife Way

When: Friday-Sunday from 5:30-9:30 P.M., now through January 5

Glow Holiday Hollows at the Cleveland Botanical Garden

What: The Glow event features over 100 decorated gingerbread houses, dozens of trimmed trees and an interactive gnome scavenger hunt. Entry is free for members. Otherwise, tickets for adults are $15, and children ages 3-12 can get in for $10.

Where: Cleveland Botanical Garden at 11030 East Boulevard in Cleveland

When: Tuesday through Sunday now through January 4, with varying hours and some holiday closures.

Akron Zoo’s Wild Lights

What: At this time of year, practically the entire Akron Zoo is decorated. You can check out the wall of animated lights set to holiday music, and of course you can visit Santa Land and get a photo. And for the grown ups, you can buy a beer or wine, or spike your hot chocolate or coffee if that’s more your vibe. You get a discount if you buy your tickets today, November 29, at AkronZoo.org. After today, regular price for adults to get in is $16 and kids ages 2-14 are $12.

Where: 500 Edgewood Avenue in Akron

When: Friday-Sunday from 5-9 P.M. now through the end of December. Christmas week it's also open on Thursday December 26 and Monday December 30.
