Medina County crash leaves one person dead, three others injured

MEDINA COUNTY, Ohio — The Medina County Highway Patrol is investigating a crash that left a woman dead Wednesday. 

According to reports, a 1997 Honda Accord was traveling north on Vandemark Road when it failed to stop at a stop sign. The Honda was occupied by Danny Dozanti, 40, who was behind the wheel, his passenger Rebecca Lake, 36, and a juvenile. 

The three were struck by a 2003 Jeep Cherokee, driven by 42-year-old James Arnold just before 4 p.m. 

As a result of the crash, Lake was life-flighted to Akron General Hospital where she later died from her injuries. Donzanti and the juvenile were transported by emergency services to Lodi Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. 

Mr. Arnold was taken to Akron General with non-life threatening injuries. 

Several area departments assisted with the crash including the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Lodi Police, Westfield Police, Medina County Sheriff, Lodi Fire and EMS, Chatham EMS, Westfield EMS, Layfayette EMS and ODOT. 

The crash remains under investigation.
