'Grinch' busted for alleged break-in at Medina's Castle Noel Christmas attraction

Castle Noel is a holiday museum overflowing with countless movie props from films like the 'Grinch' and 'Elf.'

MEDINA, Ohio — Authorities have arrested a Grinch who allegedly smashed his way into Medina’s Castle Noel.

It was around 7:30 p.m. Sunday when burglary alarms were triggered at the year-round Christmas attraction on South Court Street.

“The initial officer on scene observed a broken window and an unknown suspect inside the building,“ Medina Police said on Facebook.

The intruder fled deeper into the attraction while officers surrounded the building. He was taken into custody without incident after police went inside.

The owner, Mark Klaus, told the Beacon Journal that his collection of holiday movie memorabilia within the museum was not harmed despite some damage to the attraction’s Grand Hall.

Police say the suspect admitted to breaking into several vehicles in the area of South Jefferson Street. Charges are pending as the investigation continues. The suspect's name has not been released.

Castle Noel is known as “America’s largest indoor year-round Christmas entertainment attraction,” which features countless props and set pieces from dozens of holiday movies.

Fans of the Grinch will gush with green giddiness to see hundreds of costumes and props from the 2000 hit movie starring Jim Carrey -- including the film's massive sleigh and Cindy Lou Who's whimsical bedroom set. Will Ferrell's Elf costume, the toy soldiers from Santa Clause 2 and cousin Eddie's RV made famous by National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation are among the other highlights.

WKYC was given a full tour of the entire Castle Noel attraction in 2017, which you can see HERE:
