Two men drown in Medina Township pond

A boat capsized with three men on board.

MEDINA COUNTY, Ohio — State authorities are investigating the drowning of two men in a Medina Township pond in the early morning hours on Sunday.

Shortly after 2:30 a.m., the Medina Township Police Department was called to the 4110 block of Remsen Road for a possible drowning.

When police got to the address, they were told that a boat in a pond behind the home had capsized and all three on board went into the water.

One of three men on the boat was able to get to shore and call for help.

Police could not find the other two men that had gone into the water.

The Medina Fire Department, Wayne County Water Rescue Team and Ohio Parks and Watercraft officers were called to help locate the two men.

The bodies of the two men were later retrieved from the water. They have been identified as 19-year-old Trevor Pacek from Brunswick and 19-year-old Joshua Schwandt of Medina.

The investigation is being done by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Parks and Watercraft.
