PENINSULA, Ohio — After staffing shortages caused two of Northeast Ohio's most popular ski resorts to stay closed, Brandywine officials have announced that the slopes will reopen Friday.
"You have all been patiently waiting for this information and we are very excited to announce that we will be opening Brandywine this Friday 1/14," owners announced on Facebook Wednesday afternoon.
Boston Mills, which reopened on Friday, Jan. 7, will be open Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Fridays from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., and weekends from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. At this time, Brandywine will be open Monday through Friday from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. and weekends from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
"Our goal is to ensure that skiers and riders have an option at BMBW seven days a week. We'll aim to extend our hours based on staffing levels as we continue to hire," officials with the ski resorts said in a post on Facebook.
No announcement has been made yet as to when Alpine Valley slopes will reopen to the public.
"While we were optimistic that the steps we took ahead of the season would help us contend with the staffing shortages that have affected so many businesses across the country, we do not yet have the staffing levels needed to operate our normal hours in a safe manner," General Manage Jake Campbell wrote in a Facebook post last week. "And while we have taken great measures to ensure the safety of our employees and guests, we are still feeling the impacts from the Omicron variant."
