Some "little cowpokes" hoping to ride Cedar Point's new Steel Vengeance roller coaster when it officially opens next month will have to wait.

The park announced today it will be instituting a 52-inch (4-foot-4) height requirement for the coaster following several tests. The decision aligns with similar requirements for Cedar Point's other big coasters.

"Similar to rides like Maverick, Top Thrill Dragster and Valravn, Steel Vengeance offers a dynamic layout with unprecedented maneuvers, steep drops, airtime and it’s an entirely new category of roller coaster," Director of Communications Tony Clark said in a statement. "It’s also a ride that lasts over two minutes."

Steel Vengeance will be open to the public when Cedar Point begins its 2018 season on Saturday, May 5, setting records as tallest (205 feet), fastest (74 miles per hour), and longest (5,740 feet) hybrid roller coaster in the world.
