LIVE BLOG: High winds rip through Northeast Ohio causing damage and power outages

A high wind advisory remains in effect until 7 a.m. Monday.

Wow! These winds have been intense! Gusts have reached nearly 70 mph at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport.

Power outages and damage of all magnitudes are being reported across the region.

 

4 a.m. Previously posted High Wind Warnings have been canceled hours early. Instead, a Wind Advisory was issued until 1 p.m. for Ashtabula, Cuyahoga, Geauga and Lake counties.

11:31 p.m.

Some feel as if Cleveland Public Power hasn't been quick enough getting the lights turned on. The company decided to address customers directory in a Facebook post.

7:33 p.m.

Meteorologist Matt Wintz posted a Facebook Live on the wind conditions just moments ago.

Multiple flights both in and out of Cleveland Hopkins International Airport have been delayed, canceled, or even diverted due to the strong wind conditions. Click here for a full list.

5:30 p.m.

Downed power lines have closed a portion of Lakeshore Blvd in Euclid.

5:00 p.m.

Downtown Cleveland was not exempt from the wrath of NEO's wind storm.  

4:18 p.m. 

High winds caused a structural damage to a commercial business in Hambden.

4:00 p.m.

Officials at FirstEnergy provided and update on outages and their resources. They also gave information on how to report an outage in your area. 

2:10 p.m. 

Chillicothe Rd (OH-306) between Tanglewood Tr & Trillium closed completely with primary wires arcing on ground until CEI & ODOT can rectify.

2:00 p.m.

There is a power outage in the west side of Bay Village due to a downed wire. CEI has been notified. No ETA for resolution. The traffic light is out at Bradley and Wolf. Stop signs are deployed, please treat as a 4-way stop.

1:19 p.m. 

A downed utility pole in Solon has closed a portion of Cochran Road.

1:00 P.M.

The speed of wind gusts continues to rise, check out this reading of 67 mph at Cleveland Hopkins Airport provided by the National Weather Service. 

12:40 p.m.

More than 18, 000 First Energy customers are without power in Cuyahoga County

12:30 p.m. 

 The Geauga County Sheriff Department has reported a several downed wires as sparking miniature fires and flying debris, including a trampoline. 

11:20 a.m

A large tree is blown over at a home in Elyria.

11:00 a.m. 

Officials responded to a blown off roof  at an apartment complex in Woodmere.

Power lines in Macedonia were struck by lightening causing the sparks seen in the video below.

7:00 a.m.

The Ohio Turnpike issued a travel ban for the duration of the wind advisory. The ban begins at toll plaza 2 to toll plaza 161.
