Cities across the country celebrated the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr on Monday. That included many areas in Northeast Ohio.

In Cleveland, the Rock and Roll of Fame was one of many places offering free admission and special programming. Music was an integral part of the Civil Rights Movements, with artists standing alongside Dr. King. The Rock Hall accepted hats, gloves, and coat donations today which will be given to Providence House.

Admission was also free next door at the Great Lakes Science Center, while the Cleveland Orchestra Youth Chorus performed at a free community open house at Severance Hall.

Meanwhile down in Summit County, our photojournalist Carl Bachtel checked the University of Akron's MLK Activities Fair and stopped by the Akron Zoo to check out some of the activities that took place honoring Dr. King. Watch Carl's report below:
