MILLERSBURG, Ohio — An Ohio teacher is ready for the fabulous life after winning $5 million in a “Fabulous Fortune” top prize drawing.

Brenda Simpson of Millersburg was awarded her prize by Ohio Lottery Director, Pat McDonald, Thursday.

In November 2018, Simpson purchased a $20 lottery ticket from Rodhe’s IGA located at 2105 Glen Drive. She initially scratched off three TPD symbols, earning her $5,500 and an entry into the top prize drawing.

Simpson’s entry was selected out of 14 others in the drawing held August 29. Winning the drawing, she has the option of receiving $250,000 a year or a lump sum of $2.5 million prior to tax withholding. She has 60 days to make a decision.

The Head Start teacher says despite winning the drawing, she still plans to return to work.

“I told the people I work with and they asked if I was coming to work tomorrow. I still plan to work, but I told my husband he can retire,” Simpson said.

She also plans to pay off her home and purchase one for her daughter.
