SHILOH, Ohio — A member of the Richland County Sheriff's Office was taken to the hospital after his crusier crashed Wednesday afternoon.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Dep. Scott Davis had his sirens on while responding to a call for service when he began to run through traffic. While he was passing other vehicles, a Chevrolet pickup truck being driven by a Shelby man was attempting to turn left off Ganges-Five Points Road into a driveway, with Davis quickly approaching from behind.

Davis "took evasive action to avoid contact," and his car went off the right side of the road and hit a rock and a mailbox before flipping over. The wreck occurred around 1:45 p.m.

Davis was rushed to Ohio Health Mansfield Hospital, but his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. The driver of the pickup was not hurt.

The incident is under investigation.
