Ohio State Highway Patrol investigating fatal single-vehicle crash in Sandusky County

The crash happened on Thursday, Aug. 11, at around 8 p.m. on County Road 32 in Scott Township.

SANDUSKY COUNTY, Ohio — An investigation is underway after a 30-year-old man died in a fatal crash.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the single-vehicle crash happened on Thursday, Aug. 11, at around 8 p.m. on County Road 32 in Scott Township. 

The victim, Cody Shammo of Gibsonburg, was driving northbound on County Road 32 happened when his Chevrolet Silverado went off the road and overturned. The truck eventually went back on the road and overturned. 

According to officials, Shammo was not wearing a seat belt when the accident happened and sustained fatal injuries. 

At this time, the crash remains under investigation by the Fremont Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol. 

On the scene, Sandusky County Sheriff’s Office, the Sandusky County Coroner’s Office, Rising Sun Fire Department, Kansas Fire Department, Bradner EMS and Madison Motors assisted the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
