Ohio University rugby club team suspended while under investigation

The rugby team is one of several organizations on campus that are under investigation.

ATHENS, Ohio — The men's rugby club sports team at Ohio University has been suspended while they are under investigation by the school.

According to a letter sent to the team, the university said received information that the group "has engaged in conduct that puts the health and safety of your members at risk and is not in compliance with the behavioral expectations set out in the Student Code of Conduct."

The university directed the club to cease and desist all organizational activities.

The group is not allowed to meet in any capacity which includes meetings, social events, practices and games.

The rugby team is one of several organizations on campus that are under investigation.

Last week, the school announced they were investigating hazing allegations against the marching band.

On October 3, the university announced all 15 Interfraternity Council organizations were suspended over hazing concerns. Another three sororities and a professional fraternity were added on October 9.
