SUGARCREEK, Ohio — A Sugarcreek police officer was hospitalized with injuries following an altercation during a traffic stop Wednesday morning.
Sugarcreek Police Chief Kevin Kaser told WJER that the incident began around 10 a.m. during a "traffic-related" stop on a commercial vehicle near the feed building at TMK Farm Service.
The suspect, who has not been identified, was shot and killed. Police would not say how the officer was injured.
Kaser said the officer, whose identity is being withheld until family is notified, was in stable condition when he was taken to a hospital via LifeFlight.
BCI has been called to the scene.
