Cleveland's Hough neighborhood held its annual "A Brighter Day in Ward 7" festival recently, and a special parade was held Aug. 3 to mark the occasion.
The parade started at noon from the Hough Multipurpose Center and continued along Hough Avenue.
Flying overhead during the parade were new street banners promoting the "Hough Reads" campaign to promote family literacy in the neighborhood.
WKYC is proud to be a partner in that initiative.
The banners, which are hung along Hough Avenue between East 82nd and East 93rd streets, depict the faces of Hough residents and other local book lovers who are supporters of the neighborhood's literacy campaign.
The banner project was coordinated by Rhonda Crowder and Wayne Dailey, who are spearheading the Hough Reads effort.
