Many think it’s sad when summer vacation comes to an end, but the Esperanza organization turned it into a celebration Saturday by hosting its annual back-to-school festivities in its parking lot on Cleveland’s west side.
One thousand backpacks, filled with school supplies, were given away to the families that attended, courtesy of Esperanza which provides educational services and support to Hispanic youth in Cleveland.
More than 20 community organizations were there to help parents ensure their kid are prepared for the start of school.
The event also featured music, dancing and games. WKYC was a partner in the initiative.
